It is set to become a major driving force in the development of a genuine nationwide photovoltaic “sector”, notably creating thousands of industrial and service jobs both upstream and downstream in the value chain, based on the business model that the Group has already implemented in France and South Africa.
Solairedirect Maroc, headquartered in Casablanca, is now focusing on the development of solar farms and rooftop installations under the 13-09 law and the Moroccan Solar Plan (2 GW by 2019). The group aims to become the leading solar energy company in the country.

Solar potential in Morocco |
Morocco faces two major energy issues: energy independence (the country is dependent on outside sources for 97% of its energy supply) and growing demand (6% to 8% annual increase in demand for electric energy since 1998).
In response to these issues, the country has made a strategic decision to choose renewable energies. In 2020, 42% of its total electric production will be supplied by renewable energies (equally proportioned between solar, wind and hydraulic power).
As a result, Morocco has released its Solar Programme. This major initiative first involves the construction of 2 GW in solar electric power capacity between 2015 and 2019.
